1. Who we are and the scope of this policy

Hajj & Kanaan is responsible for the personal information processed through this website. This policy covers information submitted through the online enquiry form, correspondence arising from an enquiry, and limited technical information needed to operate and protect the website.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Lebanese law, including Law No. 81 of 10 October 2018 on Electronic Transactions and Personal Data, and applicable professional duties.

2. Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the information you choose to provide, including:

• your name and email address;
• your telephone number, if you provide it;
• the subject and content of your enquiry;
• subsequent correspondence relating to the enquiry; and
• confirmation that you read this policy and agreed to the stated use of your information.

Our hosting provider may also process limited technical logs, such as IP address, browser information, requested pages and timestamps, to deliver and secure the website.

3. Why we use your information

We use this information to:

• assess and respond to your initial enquiry;
• communicate with you about the enquiry and any next steps;
• protect the website, prevent misuse and troubleshoot technical issues;
• comply with legal and professional obligations; and
• establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

The form identifies which fields are required. If you do not provide your name, email, subject, message and confirmation, we may be unable to assess or respond to the enquiry. The telephone field is optional.

4. Please limit what you send

The online form is intended only for a brief initial enquiry. Do not send documents, confidential or highly sensitive information, information about health or alleged criminal conduct, or anything subject to an imminent deadline.

Sending information does not create a lawyer-client relationship and does not mean that the firm has agreed to act. If a secure exchange is appropriate, the firm will provide further instructions.

5. Who may receive your information

Personal information may be accessed only where needed by authorised lawyers and staff of Hajj & Kanaan and by service providers acting on the firm's behalf, including the production hosting provider and email-delivery provider. It may also be disclosed to professional advisers, regulators, courts or public authorities where required or permitted by law.

The form is designed to use Resend for email delivery when that service is activated. Resend may process message content and delivery metadata in the United States and through its authorised service providers. If the delivery service is not configured, the website does not accept the enquiry or display a false success message.

We do not sell personal information and do not use website enquiries for unrelated marketing.

6. How long we keep information

An ordinary website enquiry and related correspondence are normally retained for no longer than 12 months after the last communication, then deleted or anonymised. Information may be kept longer where an engagement is established, a professional or legal obligation applies, a conflict record must be maintained, or information is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. In those cases, it is handled under the firm's applicable matter-retention practices.

Technical logs are kept only for the operational and security period configured with the production hosting provider.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the risks involved. Access is limited to authorised persons and providers that need it for the purposes described above. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we process personal information about you and request access to a copy. You may also request correction, completion, updating or deletion where the legal conditions are met, or object to processing for legitimate reasons.

9. Google Maps, cookies and external services

This website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. The Contact page includes an embedded Google map that loads automatically when the page is opened. Google may receive technical information and use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.

If analytics, advertising or other tracking technologies are introduced later, this policy and any consent controls will be updated before those technologies are activated.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the website, our providers or applicable requirements. The date above identifies the latest version.
